First Round | Video
[The subject of today's video is Dio's Zubat which flutters in and out of the view of the camera. He's still not used to actually filming anything, so keeping it on screen is hardly his main concern at the moment.
As for where he is, he's not stupid. He read the evil villain handbook and figured it's not a good idea to show off anything pertaining to that (not that he minds showing off), so once the day's training was done (as if they could teach him anything), he decided the grass just outside town would be the best place to learn how to use this weird thing.]
Tell me, what exactly am I meant to do with such a creature? Where I come from, these things are usually seen as pests, if not worse, but if this handbook is to believed, I'm actually supposed to care for the thing.
[He'll omit sharing with the viewer which handbook he's read.]
I don't doubt that's the case, but still, being newly arrived to this world, I would like some reassurance. After all, if I'm meant to travel the land, collecting badges with such a baffling creature, it would comfort me to know someone else has done the same.
[And perhaps they'll tell him of their Pokemon and their accomplishments as well. After all, he's one of their own. A trainer. Why wouldn't they share with him?]
Oh, and please allow me to introduce myself, my name is Dio Brando. I look forward to meeting your acquaintance.
[...and using these fools to climb higher and higher in this ridiculous Pokemon world.]

Oh, and please allow me to introduce myself, my name is Dio Brando. I look forward to meeting your acquaintance.

video;
...So clearly he's got to be an excellent person worthy of greeting in return.]
Good day, Mr. Brando! And how very pleasant to make your acquaintance. I am Miss Meridiana Everett, once of London but — er, now of Goldenrod City, I suppose! And I've lived here awhile, so if there are any questions you have that I might assist with, I should be more than happy to.
As to your, um. Your bat, rather, if you treat it kindly it will protect you as you travel! That's mostly what such things are for, here, is protection and companionship.
video;
My my, a fellow resident of London? Here I was beginning to think the only people I'd meet were from somewhere less refined.
[Look, he knows he's not royalty, though he feels he should be treated as such, but good lord, some of you all need etiquette lessons.]
If I may ask a different question than the one I originally posed,, how long have you been here? I would like to know if I should start preparing for a long stay.
[The Rocket trainer just kind of shrugged at him when he asked this before. Very unhelpful.]
video;
Why, of course! As I said, I'm happy to answer anything I can. As for myself, it's been just a bit over a year now; it's October, by the local reckoning of things, and I arrived in late September, a year ago.
video;
[That's...mildly irritating. It'd be more so if he wasn't completely fine with the complete destruction of Jonathan Joestar taking however long it takes, but still, that's a year of that idiot not having to deal with Dio. And that is hardly fair. Then again, knowing Jojo, that's a year of crying over his stupid dog and putting his life back in order for Dio to aggressively Dio at it, so he can deal with it. Still irritating though.]
That must have been quite the adjustment. From what I've seen so far, this world is far more advanced than what I'm used to.
[It'd be like a Jules Verne novel if Jules Verne was also a zookeeper.]
And yet somewhat less so as well. I've yet to see a single carriage, but at the same time, nothing that seems to have replaced them either.
video;
[She offers him a pretty smile.]
And while it's true there are no carriages, there are horses, at least, to make travel simpler by riding them. They're not so very hard to come by, really, if one doesn't mind the...er. Fire.
video;
[Some kind gentleman. He's picturing Jojo. Of course he's picturing Jojo. He's always picturing Jojo. But there's a bigger issue here, which is...
...the fire.
He's...um, not even sure what to do here. Mentally, he's torn between confusion and laughing for completely horrible reasons.]
I beg your pardon? Did you say something about fire being a concern?
[What sort of horses are you riding, Miss Everett?]
video;
[...]
Rather, if you'll just wait a moment, it may be best if I simply show you!
[And indeed, after a bit of camera jostling and the scenery changing to an outdoor setting instead of the interior of a house, there's the sound of a Pokeball opening and within moments, a Rapidash comes into view.]
There, this is Charlemagne. Even with the fire, he's rather handsome, isn't he?
video;
Hang on, let him pretend he gives any sort of damn about the horse while still trying to process that it's on fire and not burning.]
Certainly, but how exactly does one avoid the flames?
video;
[She wanders over, resting a hand against Charlemagne's neck; it's way too close to not result in a burn, under normal logic, but evidently this is perfectly fine.]
It's as though he's just a horse. It's really very strange, but so it goes, in a place like this.
video;
I take back what I said earlier. It seems like getting used to this place takes even more of an adjustment than I could have guessed.
[Which means he, Dio, might have to pay more attention to these Rocket training classes than he was planning on doing.]
video;
[And if she can recall how to walk him through using it.]
It works on any of them, simply by pointing it at them and pressing the proper button.
video;
Let's give that a try then.
[Give him a second while he messes around with the gear. The video might short out a couple of times before, okay there. All the data on Zubat anyone's ever wanted to know.]
It says here that sunlight is actually capable of burning them.
[Dio maybe there should be more urgency in your tone there, bro. Still, he returns Zubat to its Pokeball for now. The idea of losing his starter to the sun doesn't really appeal to him.]
That aside, I'm sure having a field guide like this will certainly come in handy. Your assistance has been quite invaluable Miss Everett.
[But whether that's a good thing remains to be seen.]
video;
[...Because certainly he started off in New Bark like everyone else, because nobody starts off in Goldenrod, because that would just be silly.]
video;
[..oh boy, he's actually glad about this stupid training because it provides a convenient way to not run into this girl. Sure, it's a big city, but he's Dio and everything revolves around him, so of course it would happen.]
